I typically work with clients in a relaxing, comfortable yet clinical room in my home in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. See details regarding cream/oil and attire below. Understanding your Goals Every session is tailored to address your intentions for it. It is always my goal to release stress and tension, increase vitality and immunity and promote wellness and a more balanced being. If you have any specific goals, intentions or requests for a particular session, I encourage you to share them with me (in advance if possible) as this will help me to properly prepare a treatment plan and gives us the best chance of achieving results that will exceed your expectations. Techniques: Therapeutic Sessions Therapeutic sessions typically begin with a few, brief, assessment questions and a reading of pulses, both primarily rooted in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Other "Eastern and Western" medical/energetic assessment tools might be utilized including muscle testing, face reading or chakra evaluation/observation. I primarily suggest and practice one or a combination of the following body/energy-work modalities:
Typically, clients report that the most lasting relief/balance occurs through the application of more holistic/Eastern modalities as these forms tend to address healing at the physical, emotional, spiritual and energetic levels. Pure Jin Shin Acupressure does not use any cream or oil and is often performed through light loose clothing or if the client prefers to be nude, through a thin sheet. I find many individuals prefer a mix of Acupressure and other stlyes that benefit from the use of massage cream; therefore most clients prefer to remove all clothing prior to beginning. A top sheet is available for draping as well. Beyond the Session After each session during which your pulse readings are recorded, I will generate a chart that shows your readingsfor each meridian presented in terms of Yin/Yang and each of the 5 elements. Repeat clients can access historical charts via the web, providing insight into the state/changes in ch'i flow patterns over time. If appropriate and desired, I can also offer self-care recommendations that will help you to maintain greater self-awareness and a more balanced state of being including:
What is Acupressure? Often called “acupuncture without needles,” Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses finger-pressure to massage key points along pathways/meridians of energy that run through your body. It has been trusted for more than 5,000 years as a highly effective means of relieving and preventing common ailments, stress, fatigue and pain. |
